Detail overview
Tawa Roti
Tawa Roti is a simple, everyday Indian flatbread that’s soft, light, and wholesome — a staple in many households. Made from whole wheat flour (atta), the dough is kneaded with water (sometimes a touch of salt or ghee) until smooth and pliable. Small portions of the dough are rolled out into thin, round discs and cooked on a hot flat griddle called a tawa.
The roti is lightly cooked on one side, then flipped and puffed up either directly on the flame or pressed gently on the tawa until soft and speckled with golden-brown spots. Tawa Roti is served warm, often brushed with a bit of ghee for extra aroma and taste. It pairs perfectly with any curry, dal, or sabzi, making it a light, nutritious, and essential part of an Indian meal — simple, fresh, and comforting!
