Detail overview
Dal Tadka
Dal Tadka is a popular North Indian lentil dish made with a comforting blend of yellow lentils (usually moong dal or toor dal) cooked until soft and creamy. The cooked dal is then enhanced with a flavorful tempering (tadka) made using ghee or oil, cumin seeds, garlic, ginger, onions, tomatoes, and green chilies, along with aromatic spices like turmeric, red chili powder, and garam masala.
The tadka is poured sizzling hot over the dal just before serving, giving it a rich aroma and deep, smoky flavor.
Serving Suggestion:
Perfectly paired with steamed basmati rice, jeera rice, or Indian breads like naan, roti, or paratha.
