Detail overview
Plain Paratha
A popular and comforting Indian flatbread, Plain Paratha is made from whole wheat flour dough that’s rolled out, layered with ghee or oil, and then cooked on a hot griddle (tawa) until golden brown and flaky. Known for its slightly crispy outer layers and soft, chewy inside, paratha offers a richer, heartier alternative to regular roti.
The dough is often folded multiple times to create delicate layers, which puff up beautifully when cooked, giving the paratha its signature flakiness and buttery texture. Sometimes a little extra ghee or butter is added during cooking to enhance flavor and softness.
Plain Paratha is enjoyed hot, straight off the griddle, and pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes like curries, dals, pickles, or even yogurt. Its satisfying texture and mildly nutty taste make it a beloved choice for breakfast, lunch, or dinner across India and Nepal.
