Detail overview
Aloo Kulcha
A beloved Punjabi stuffed flatbread, Aloo Kulcha is a flavorful and satisfying bread that combines soft, fluffy dough with a spicy mashed potato filling. Made from refined wheat flour (maida), the dough is kneaded and rested before being stuffed with a seasoned mixture of boiled and mashed potatoes, flavored with spices such as cumin, coriander, garam masala, green chilies, and fresh herbs like cilantro.
The stuffed dough is rolled out gently and cooked on a hot griddle (tawa) or baked in a tandoor until golden brown with delicious charred spots. The kulcha is often brushed with butter or ghee immediately after cooking, adding richness and a glossy finish.
Aloo Kulcha is best enjoyed hot, served alongside tangy chickpea curry (chole), yogurt, or pickle, making it a popular street food and a favorite at Punjabi meals. Its crispy exterior, soft layers, and flavorful potato stuffing make it a truly comforting and hearty treat.
