Detail overview
Plain Naan
A timeless North Indian classic, Plain Naan is a soft, pillowy flatbread traditionally baked in a clay oven called a tandoor. Made from refined wheat flour (maida), yogurt, and a touch of leavening agent like yeast or baking soda, naan is kneaded into a smooth dough that’s left to rest, allowing it to develop its light, airy texture.
Each naan is hand-stretched or rolled into an oval or tear-drop shape and slapped onto the hot walls of the tandoor, where it cooks quickly, puffing up beautifully and developing its signature charred spots and slightly smoky aroma. Soft on the inside and lightly crisp on the outside, Plain Naan is warm, fluffy, and neutral in taste, making it the perfect vessel for scooping up rich, flavorful gravies and curries.
Served piping hot and often brushed with a bit of butter or ghee for extra aroma, Plain Naan is a must-have accompaniment for indulgent dishes like Butter Chicken, Paneer Butter Masala, or Dal Makhani — simple, satisfying, and always a favorite at any North Indian meal.
